            Candy’s Story:

All of my life, I have been called fat, even when I really wasn’t.  It has been like this badge of shame that I have had to wear.  As I have gotten older, my weight has continued to climb.  I have made excuses not to do things with my friends when I knew my weight would get in the way – things I would have like to have done.

Now I have a 9 year old child who plays every sport in the world, and would like for me to play with him.  Unfortunately, I get too tired or too sore from the overactivity.  I often have to quit long before he wants to.

Carrying around all this excess weight makes me feel like I am carrying around another grown adult on my back constantly and I am tired of it.  I worry that my child may soon be embarrassed of me.  Both of my parents have diabetes brought on by excess weight.  I know that I may be on that same path if I don’t get the weight off.

I’m scared that I might not be around to see my child graduate from high school, college, get married or have his first child if I don’t do something.  I want to ride the rides at the amusement park and play endlessly with my child.  Losing this weight will be a dream come true because I could LIVE, not just exist.

My mom, Margaret, and I are going to change our lives together and the life of my son.  We are going to succeed together!

I have been having a very stressful week, but I’m happy nonetheless. As of last week I’m down 104.5. YEAH!!! I am just so excited! I never thought I could lose this much weight, let alone this fast! It’s just incredible! This is the lightest I’ve been in over 25 years! I am so thankful for this opportunity! I can’t say thank you enough to Dr. Lara and Debbie Lane. They have given me my life back. The staff in the St. Petersburg office are so wonderful and supportive. I couldn’t ask for a better experience! I hope everyone else is doing well!

You should be so proud! That is wonderful news. I am also glad you have blogged, so the rest of us can know your success and celebrate with you. Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see you again soon.

Not sure why, but my site is still closed, so I can not blog. I’m sorry to have to piggy back on yours, but I also want to share. I am now down 85lbs and only have 11 more to go. I am very excited and hope the last bit will get off quickly.

Your picture is also so wonderful. You have to let us all know when you hit the 100lbs mark. We want to celebrate with you. You are awsome and doing so well. I bet you are doing things you have not done in a very long time, or ever. I know I have and it is wonderful. Keep it up and hope to see you soon.

I haven’t been able to leave any comments for a while, but I’m glad to see I can again. I have 98.5lbs. gone and feel great! I’m hoping to pass 100 this week. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I could accomplish this so easily! I still have a lot more to go, but I can see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The holidays were hectic, but the new year has me back in the gym. My son is starting to realize that I can give him a run for his money on the basketball court!! I hope all of the other ladies are doing well and I hope to see them soon!

Candy, I am so proud of you and your mom both! You both did amazing through the holidays. I admire your drive and determination, and I always look so forward to Thursday mornings! Can’t wait for your weigh in tomorrow! Andrea

Oh, and tell Ben hi for me. We miss seeing his handsome face around here with you!

Well the Holidays are upon us. This is a very hectic time of year for me, too much to do and not enough time. I seem to be handling it better this year than usual. I feel great. Thanksgiving went off without a problem. I stuck to the program even though we went to eat with family. I feel thinner than I can even remember. Even though the weight loss has been slow the past few weeks, I have managed to lose almost 83 pounds! I am so amazed. My closet just keeps getting more bare. It’s great. I wore a dress to work the other day that I hadn’t worn in over 15 years. One of my co-workers said, “I can’t believe you kept that dress for so long.” I guess I held on to the hope that it would fit me again. The funny thing is that it is now looser than I remember from before. Life is great!! Now if I could only get all of the Christmas decorating done. I think this is going to be our best Christmas ever thanks to everybody involved with the Weight Away Program. I hope all of the other ladies are doing well. Happy Holidays!!
