Debbie’s Story:

My weight gain started in college and never stopped.  I have terrible eating habits that I just can’t seem to change.  I buy the right foods, but they rot before I eat them, meanwhile I eat all the junk foods in the cupboard.

The excess weight has had a huge impact on my life.  I have two kids that often ask me to go out an play ball or do other activities, and I find that the heavier I become, the more excuses I find for not playing with them.  Even bending over to tie my shoes is a stress.   I even get breathless just walking short distances.

I can’t wait to fit in an airline seat, or movie seat without feeling like I am squished into them.  I don’t want my kids to be embarrassed about me, and I want to feel good about myself.  I want my life back for myself and for my kids.

      Well here I am. 2nd month on maintenance was terrible!! Last night I was watching the first night of the new season of the biggest looser with my daughter and I realized that I have not gone out running in like forever. FYI, I have a new bo, who keeps me busy and likes to go out to dinner. Well right in the middle of the show, I put on my sweat pants, sweat shirt and scarf (cause it was really pretty cold out) and took off out the door. You just HAVE TO DO IT. there are so many reasons why NOT to do it. Too cold, just ate, don’t feel well, etc. You just have to put the excuses out of your mind and just get out and run. I felt so much better after, but also realized that it had been way too long since the last time. With the kids not in sports and my son not having to watch his weight any more for football, all my “in your face” reasons went away. I have to MAKE myself do this. I refuse to be fat again. To all the other participants, please keep going. I know you can reach your goal!

    I am officially on MAINTENANCE!!! I have gone thru transition and am now maintaining!! I am going to the gym on the free month membership that Dr Lara provided. I even did a mini boot camp last night. It felt great last night, but I am feeling the pain today! Anyway, ladies if I can do it, so can you. Keep going.

    Well, I made it to the end. I am in transition now for the next 6 or so weeks and then I go on Maintenance. As of yesterday I lost a total of 91.4 lbs!! I am so excited. I probably mentioned in the past, but I went from a size 22 to a comfortable 10. If I can do this, all of you should be able to also. I hope you are all sticking to the plan. I know many of us are sticking to it because we feel we owe Dr. Lara our best because of the gift he has provided, however I think first we should be doing it for ourselves. Yes the gift from Dr. Lara is one that we could never repay, but you have to loose the weight and get healthy because YOU want to. There is no better feeling than being healthy! Being able to move like a normal person. Being able to buy clothes off the rack with out trying them on. Just feeling better about your self and how you look, not to mention how others see you.
    Keep it up girls, don’t ever quit. Even if you have a bad week or a bad month, Just start at the beginning and stick to the plan. It works.
