Debbie’s Story:

My weight gain started in college and never stopped.  I have terrible eating habits that I just can’t seem to change.  I buy the right foods, but they rot before I eat them, meanwhile I eat all the junk foods in the cupboard.

The excess weight has had a huge impact on my life.  I have two kids that often ask me to go out an play ball or do other activities, and I find that the heavier I become, the more excuses I find for not playing with them.  Even bending over to tie my shoes is a stress.   I even get breathless just walking short distances.

I can’t wait to fit in an airline seat, or movie seat without feeling like I am squished into them.  I don’t want my kids to be embarrassed about me, and I want to feel good about myself.  I want my life back for myself and for my kids.

A Very Excited (and successful) Debbie

Boy the last 5 are truly the hardest. I am mad because I had dropped so much weight so quickly, that I was on pace for a record, and now I just can’t seem to reach my goal. I tried to stick to just the protien for 3 days, but then I traveled and I couldn’t stick to it. I had a wonderful run/walk today with my dog and hope that maybe more movement will get me closer to my goal. I only have like 3lbs to go, but I can’t seem to get there. Prayers for all!

Well I took my only break from the program for 2 weeks because it was my birthday and then we went to NYC for spring break. When I say I took a break, I didn’t completely go off the wagon, I just didn’t make it for weigh ins and ate some things that normally would not be allowed. I did however still consider the diet when I ordered at restaurants and was aware of what I put in my mouth. After the 2 weeks, I gained 4lbs!! Not good, but not that bad either. Well after only 4 days, I have lost 2.6lbs, so I am back on track.

Ladies, that is all it takes. We may all fall at some point, but you have to pick your self up and get back to the plan. I made sure I took all my meds, drank all the water and ate all the things that helped me loose the first 95lbs. The plan really does work.

I am only sorry I won’t make it to the Cheese and Chat because my son has a baseball game. Best of luck to all and keep up the great work.

Well I am a bit nervous this week. I skipped my birthday week. I had never skipped a week, but I was traveling and the few lunch hours I had that week, I wanted to go out with friends. Then last week I went to NYC with the kids for Spring Break, so I missed weighing in that week. Well I am scheduled for Friday and I have no idea what will happen. My time in NYC was sooo wonderful. The last time I went to the city, I was almost 100lbs heavier than I am now. It was so hard to go up and down all the subway stairs and walk the streets at such a fast rate. My family I was with are all slim with long legs. Anyway, this time I more than kept up with them, never lost my breath and really felt great. I hope all the walking got rid of the extra calories I ate while I was there.
I was so close to my goal by .5lbs, but then gained a pound the last time I weighed in. Now I am so scared I gained more, which will just kill me that I was so close and I blew it. I know I am being hard on myself, but I just want to reach my original goal of 96 pound and I actually want to exceed my goal to say I lost an even 100lbs. I started today, drinking all the water and really watching what I put in my mouth. I hope I can keep it up till Friday and maybe surprise myself at my weigh in. Wish me luck!
I will say, I am ready for a new picture to be posted, even if I didn’t shed the extra 4.5lbs. :-)

I wish the web site was set up that we can see the new participants and so we can blog to them. Well, I can’t wait to see them transform. I spoke to one of the new participants and she said she was so surprised as to how much she lost the first week, she cried. Every week can be that good. Good luck to you all.

Well I made it with in .5lbs of my goal 2 weeks ago and then gained a pound last week. I am so close, but I feel myself slipping. A cookie here, not enough water there. I really hope I can get the weight back down this week. I really wanted to loose another 4lbs, so I can say I lost 100lbs! Wish me luck and I hope all the other girls are doing well too.
I understand that Dr. Lara has decided to give his services to another group of deserving people who are looking to shed their weight and start living their lives the way God intended. One of those participants is a friend of mine. I want to wish her all the success that I have reached and will always be there for her and the rest of the group. You have no idea the journey you are about to start and how it will make you feel when you reached your goal, but I can tell you, you will never want to go back to the way you were… ever again.
    Good luck ladies!

It was nice going to the Apples, Cheese and Chat. Wish more of the girls from our group would have been there. I did get to see Josie and she looked wonderful. I have about 4.5 lbs to go to my goal. Wish I could loose it in this week, but I have a feeling that won’t happen. I have been sick all weekend and all I want is comfort food, which is not SALAD!! Maybe it will take me 2 weeks.
Hope you all are doing well. Wish you would fill us in as to your progress. There is a new group of contestants and I think it is important for us to show our support by blogging in informing others what is going on.
By the way, don’t be surprised as you get close to your to your goal, to have friends/family say that you are too thin!! The problem is that they are just not use to seeing you this thin. I have had many tell me that I am getting too thin, but I explain that I am still a size 10/12. Anyway, don’t let anyone discourage you to reach your goal. Take care and feel great.

  7. Debbie says:

Well, I hope I am finally out of my slump!! I lost 1.6 today, leaving 4.6lbs to go. More importantly is my body fat. When I started I was at 49.1% BF and as of today’s weigh in, I am at 28.9%!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe it was all the running/walking I did this week. Maybe it was the foot race I did with my son. (he was wearing 10lbs weights on each ankle while we ran, but I still tied him). I have not run for speed, since I was in high school! I think I impressed him!! :-)
Anyway, my other accomplishments this week are that I am officially in a size 10 (from a 22) AND……… I bought a bathing suite this week with out wanting to throw up! If I stood still I really liked the reflection in the mirror. Just when I walked and all my loose skin on my thighs flapped back and forth was bothersome. It is a good week and I can’t wait to go to Apples, Cheese & Chat tonight. Have a great week ladies! Hope you are all doing well also.

This week was not the best. Didn’t gain, but didn’t loose either. Someone said that the hardest part is loosing the last 10 lbs, which I commented, no it won’t be because the entire diet has been easy so far. Well shame on me, because I am finding it hard. Maybe it is because of the Super Bowl, which didn’t help. I also excersized more. In fact this week I have walk/ran a mile 3 times. It felt great! Well I hope that next week, I’ll drop 3! Hope all are doing well.

  9. Debbie says:

This week was not as great, but I was still down, so I should not complain. After the big drop last week I had hoped to do the same this week and the next, so I can finally reach my goal. I just have to prolong it another week or so. I am so close and feel so great. I had an opportunity to see Dr. Lara this week and it was wonderful to show him my progress and to thank him again. Life is good and I am so glad to have a chance to really live it. Happy Friday everyone!

I just went to the bottom of the screen and found that I can blog finally. Sorry it has been so long, but the site was having problems with my log in. Any way, life is so good for me. I am just about at having lost 90lbs and I am about 6lbs away from my goal. I hope to get there with in the next couple of weeks. I can’t thank Dr. Lara enough for all his generosity and his staff’s encouragement to help me reach this goal. I have gone from a size 22 to a 10 since June and I am such a happier person for it. I took a nice long run/walk the other day waiting for my son’s baseball games to start. It felt so good to just run and not wonder if my legs were going go give out. I am also reminded when I walk fast that not that long ago, even a quick walk would take my breath away. Now I could walk for miles and never be out of breath. Thank you once again for giving me back my life. :-)
