Joyce

Joyce – 420 lbs.

Joyce says that her excess weight affects her every day functions.  “Walking, cleaning house, taking care of my family, and having enough energy to get through a busy day as a caretaker for my elderly mother and two babies.  Just a day at the mall can put me in pain.  I want to be able to get down on my knees and clean out a cabinet or weed in the yard!  I want to go on a bike ride with my husband and grandchild, or at least take a walk around the block.  I can do none of these things.”

“I find myself being more reclusive and look for excuses to stay home.  I have always been a joyful and positive person, but now I like to be quiet and blend into a group instead of being myself. ”

“Most importantly, if I do not lose some weight soon, I will not have a future to look forward to.  I have a loving family and I want to be able to see my future grandchildren, watch them grow and play with them.”

It is Friday and I am just getting a chance to post on this site! This week’s loss was 4.4 for a total of 38.2 in just 5 weeks. I am very happy with my total number and I am anticipating the next “almost 40 lbs ” with great Joy! I have tried to vary my meals, but I have to say that I have some favorites. Breakfast is a busy time for me, so if I am short of time, I really like sliced apples with a low-fat mozzarella stick. It is very quick and tasty! I missed the Apples, Cheese, and Chat this week, had to work, so I am hoping I can be at the next one.

Joyce, Congrats on that hugh weight loss. I guess you have lost more than any of us in 4weeks. I weighed in today and lost another 2.8 lbs for 16.8 in 4 weeks. I have not been able to exercize at all because of this anemia I’m dealing with. I have the tests Friday and hope they can resolve this so I can start at least walking on my treadmill. I am happy about the 16.8 lb loss in 4 weeks but I’m like you, I had hoped for more weeks like the first when I lost 9.2. They said that this is normal to loose between 2 and 3 weekly so I guess I’m right on schedule. I love this program. Hope your back gets better quickly. I know what back pain is like and its no fun. Have a great week. Will check in next week after the weigh in.

Today was my 4th week weigh-in and I lost 3.2 lbs. for a total of 33.8 in 4 weeks. I am very happy with the total number but find that now I want those bigger losses every week. I am always striving for at least a 5 lb loss and I know that is not realistic. But I still want it!! I remind myself that this did not happen overnight and it sure won’t come off overnight . I did not get to excercise much this week because I strained my back putting my grandson in his carseat. So this week my goal is to find ways to move more and get in some extra excercise. I can feel the results of the 33 lb loss already in the way I move and breathe. And that is as important to me as how I am going to look in my new clothes!!

Wow, i am sooo proud of you. You need to constantly clean out your closet, or go thru it. I can’t tell you how many outfits (many with tags on them) I had saved for YEARS, only to find that they were too big when I pulled it out of the back of the closet. Keep getting rid of the larger sizes by bringing them to the closet at Dr. Lara’s office and keep trying on the next size in your closet. Dr. Lara’s closet is a great place to find replacement clothes, as well as my favorite is Goodwill! Never thought I would say that, but I can’t tell you the wonderful clothes I have found there (some with tags still on them). I bought 2 scorts the other day for $1.25 each. You can’t buy a bottle water for that price!! I am proud of your success and drive. Keep it up and before you know it, you will have an empty closet because you will be smaller than you have ever dreamed possible. Believe me, I know.

Joyce, I’m so happy to hear that. Family gatherings can be hard. But it the getting together w/ loved ones not the food we eat.

Today was my 3rd weigh-in and I passed the 30lb mark!! Very excited to have met that 30lb (shedding not loss, thanks Debbbie Lane) goal. It had been a tough week with Spring Break. Drinking so much water makes getting to far from the facilities a little tricky! I am very happy to have also made it through a “holiday dinner” with out too much stress over what I was going to eat. Normally I have a large group over with Ham and all the yummy sides. But this year I kept it small and we grilled steaks with fresh greenbeans. Jello and FF coolwhip made a great desert. Well not great, but good enough!!

Today was my first session with Debbie Lane. I feel as though I have learned some new things about myself. It was informing and very, very relaxing!

Today I am cleaning out my closet! I have clothes that I have saved and now I am glad I did. I guess that means I never gave up hope that I would lose this weight and get healthy. After only 26 lbs (did I really say ONLY?) I can feel the difference in my energy level. I am so looking forward to “moving” more, no matter if it is cleaning out a closet or just taking a walk with my grandbaby!

Thank you so much for the encouraging words Debbie. Coming from someone who has been through the program it means so much to me.

I have been on the program for 2 weeks now and I could not be happier with the results. My first weigh-in I had lost 18.6 lbs!! This week I lost 7.8 lbs!! So in 2 weeks I am down 26.2 lbs!!! Talk about a very HAPPY girl. I can see the results in my clothes already. I have not been hungry. One of the most enlightning things so far is that I can eat healthy and the food is neither tasteless or hard to prepare. I have such a supportive family and some close friends that are cheering me on to a healthy future.

I just wanted to let you know that the journey you are about to start is going to be the best thing you have ever done. If you stick to the plan, you will be amazed at how quickly the weight falls off. Never get discouraged and always lean on the experiance of the office staff at Dr. Lara’s. They are the best and they have a wealth of information. Best of luck to you.
