Joyce
Joyce – 420 lbs.
Joyce says that her excess weight affects her every day functions. “Walking, cleaning house, taking care of my family, and having enough energy to get through a busy day as a caretaker for my elderly mother and two babies. Just a day at the mall can put me in pain. I want to be able to get down on my knees and clean out a cabinet or weed in the yard! I want to go on a bike ride with my husband and grandchild, or at least take a walk around the block. I can do none of these things.”
“I find myself being more reclusive and look for excuses to stay home. I have always been a joyful and positive person, but now I like to be quiet and blend into a group instead of being myself. ”
“Most importantly, if I do not lose some weight soon, I will not have a future to look forward to. I have a loving family and I want to be able to see my future grandchildren, watch them grow and play with them.”

It has been a rough couple of weeks, but I did lose this week and I am very happy to say that I hit the over EIGHTY POUNDS mark!!!!! Some new “stressers” and old habits have me wanting to “destress” with food! Weight loss is not just a battle it is a WAR!! I am committed to this weight loss journey and I will succeed!!
Yay!!!!! YOU GO JOYCE!!!!!! Very PROUD of you!!!!! KEEP IT UP!!!!
I have not had a “great” couple of weeks! Two weeks ago I gained 2 lbs and then I weighed in today and I have lost 3lbs. So In 3 weeks I have only lost 1 lb! I know why, but it makes me so mad at myself!! So I have to motivate myself and get back on an “organized” program. I find that if I don’t plan my meals ahead of time or get too busy with my daily grind and not drink my water, it shows at the weigh-in. I have lost (shedd) just shy of 80 lbs! I am real happy about that, but when I don’t have a good week, those “old habits” creep back in my life. They need to know they are no longer welcome!! I have a new healthy lifestyle!
Joyce…… DON’T let a few mess ups ruin THE SUCCESS you have had!!!!! You CAN DO IT….. 80 pounds is HUGE!!!!! Don’t let Satan get the best of you… think of the reasons you are doing this….. better health, better lifestyle, feeling good about yourself……. 1 pound down is better than any pound UP!!!!!! Just brush it off and GET YOUR HEAD BACK IN THE GAME!!!!!! DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING THAT IS NOT ON THE LIST!!!!!! There is NO REASON TO!!!!!!….. If you need sweets…. GO TO D’LITES….. it is THE BEST ICE CREAM….. if you need CARBS… buy the pasta and MAKE THE RECIPES…. they are delicious………. We have had the Stuffed Cabbage SEVERAL TIMES and LOVE IT!!!!! IT FILLS ME UP!!!!! The PIZZA IS GREAT!!! Go to Palm Harbor Natural Foods and get the Lite Lavash and make the PIZZA……. it is YUM-MY!!!!! When you go to D’lites for ice cream buy some PB2 and have Apple & Peanut Butter for snacks……. IF YOU LIKE SWEETS, BUY the Carmel NUT bar from Dr. Lara’s it is only 1 protein and 1 carb…… the PEANUT BUTTER is delish too, but it is 1 1/2 of each!!!!!!!! Cut them in half and have them in between meals……..
If you are hungry throughout the day….. talk to the Dr. and see if you can increase your pills!!!!!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T GIVE UP…….. DON’T CHEAT……… REMEMBER THE OUTCOME……… LOOK HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME!!!!!!!! YOU C-A-N DO THIS!!!!!!!!
I didn’t get a chance to write last week, so I will update about that first. We had family come in for a week and it was over the July 4th Holiday, so I was a little concerned about gaining. Being extra careful about my water intake and a few extra days of excercise paid off and I “shedd” 8 pounds!!! That made for a total of 74 POUNDS!!! I also achieved a short term goal! I wanted to go to the beach and walk the new “beach walk” . On a Friday night we had dinner at Post Corner Pizza ( I had the Tilapia) and then we all went for a long walk. I had such fun!
Today I went in for my weigh-in and “shedd” another 4.4!! I am so close to the 80 LB mark!! I can hardly believe this is really happpening!! I am so grateful to Dr. Lara and his staff for all of their encouragement!!
I can hardly believe it has been 14 weeks since the start of this journey. I have been steadily loosing (shedding) and I am now down 66 pounds!!! It hasn’t been the easiest thing I have ever accomplished, but by far, not the hardest either. I am so thankful, grateful, and any other word you can think of to express my gratitude to Dr. Lara, his staff, and Debbie Lane for this oppurtunity to change my life and most importantly my health. I still have a long road ahead to reach my goal. But I am confident that since I have come this far in only 14 weeks, that I am ready to begin the next phase of this journey. I appreciate all the support I have received from my family and friends! Also, my new friends that are taking this journey with me.
Joyce… YOU ARE DOING SO GREAT!!! You are kicking butt!!!!! Keep it up!! I can’t wait to see an updated picture or see you at Dr. Lara’s one day!!!!!
Sorry I haven’ t updated here for a couple weeks! It is now my 10th week on the program. I am down a total of 56 lbs!!! I have had a loss every week except one. I am really starting to see a change in my endurance level. This week I was able to clean the house and not stop for a rest. My back was not out the next day, which is usually what would happen to me before. I can stand at the Kitchen sink or do laundry and my lower back no longer aches. I went to my primary Dr. for a routine check up this week and they were quite impressed with my blood /lab results! Everything was down!! I have family coming in late June and I hope to “shed” at least another 20lbs before then. They have not seen me in a year and I did not tell them about the program. I want to surprise them!
Joyce, that is SO FABULOUS!!!! I am SO PROUD OF YOU and can’t wait to see you tonight at the apple, cheese & chat!!! You are doing GREAT…. and Praise the Lord for all the things you can now do and enjoy, or not hurt when you are doing it… Keep it up.. we are so BLESSED with a Man such as Dr. Lara, and a woman as Debbie Lane for giving us this opportunity!!!!!
Joyce, you should be so proud of yourself! You have done a wonderful job and will continue to do so. Debbie Lane is a great inspiration to realizing the little things that have made us fail in the past and over coming those things for our future. Listen to her and follow her advise. She is a great woman. You should be very excited about the life you are heading toward. You have no idea the things that will bring you joy that had escaped you. Enjoy every new part of your new life. Keep up the great work.
WOW JOYCE!!!! That is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! You are doing FANTASTIC……. I am SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! Keep it up, I too can’t wait to see you either!!!!Just remember…. food is just FUEL for our body, NOT COMFORT!!!! YOU WILL DO GREAT NEXT WEEK!!!!! Keep up the good work, you will be a HOT MOMMA before you know it!!!!
Congratulations Joyce!!! You are really doing great. Can’t wait to see the “new” you. Hope we can all get together before too long.
This week , my 6th , I celebrated by “shedding” 6 lbs!! I am now down 44.2 and anticipating being at the 50 mark in the next 2 weeks!!! For some reason, even after a very encouraging weight loss, this week has been a struggle. I also met with Debbie Lane on Tuesday and she gave me some advice about stress relief. So I have been practicing deep breathing and trying to “blow out” or release the stress, which is all that negative energy that builds up inside. I have learned that reverting back to old habits, like eating to release stress, is just a thought away! It was a daily battle this week! I am hoping the scale next Monday reveals my victory over “stress” and the urge to go back to old habits!
THAT IS GREAT JOYCE!!!!! Keep up the good work, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!! WOW!!!!!
